Introduction/ In one of its recent programs, Chavush cultural magazine dealt with art jurisprudence and the host was Ayatollah Alidoost, a member of the board of trustees of the contemporary jurisprudence institute, as well as Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen, Mustafa Dari, the chairman of this institute.  Regarding the need to address the issue of jurisprudence of art in the TV program, as well as the side discussions of this program, we have conducted a conversation with Mohammad Javad Estadi, the editor-in-chief of this program:

First of all, give an introduction to the Chavosh program and how did you come to the necessity of dealing with the topic of “art jurisprudence” and did you feel that art jurisprudence could be one of the topics in this program?

Chavosh cultural magazine is one of the television programs planned and programmed on the 4-Sima channel, which is broadcast every night on the 4-Sima channel from Sunday to Thursday.  As the title of the program shows, Chavosh cultural magazine has the status of a magazine that tries to deal with different cultural fields and issues.  Because we know that many of the issues surrounding us can definitely be discussed with a cultural approach.  The needs that exist in the country today, the important issues that are of interest, are tried to be reviewed from a cultural point of view in the Chavosh program.  The approach of the program is also a conversation-oriented program.  That is, a space is provided where elites and experts who are proficient in that field, i.e. in the field of the subject of the program, discuss and try to present a correct picture of that problem and discuss their own challenging criticisms around that subject of the plan.

It is possible to raise a problem in one space and provide a solution in one space.  That is, there are different methods in this type of space.  As I mentioned, since our program is a magazine, various topics are covered.  From issues related to art, the field of literature, issues in the field of humanities, sociology and even economics, just like a magazine that has various sections but has a common axis, which is cultural or cultural style and a cultural look at issues in Chavosh’s program.  Is.  This is about the whole program of Chavosh.

Based on this, friends search in Chavosh and try to address issues that are important and are somehow problematic in the country.  Because we live in an Islamic system and the whole of our society has a direct relationship with the Holy Sharia, and whether it is government structures, our lifestyle or our actions, everything is under the orbit of religion, and religion has a direct relationship with all our components and actions.  Naturally, art is one of the issues that has a very special role in society.  That is, there is not much debate about the importance of art.  The importance of art is so clear and art flows in people’s lives, and our rulers have many emphases, and the Supreme Leader has statements about the place that art can have in promoting or guiding society.  On the other hand, the amount of serious consumption of art in society, different arts, from new arts such as cinema to graphic arts and music, and this shows that art is an important issue.

Naturally, when we live in the Islamic system, we expect the relationship between religion and art to be clarified.  That is, just as the laws that are established in any field are related and appropriate to Sharia, the same is true in the field of art.

The fact is that due to the importance of this issue and the issues that exist today, that is, today a new issue has arisen in the field of art for artists and consumers of art, that religion should determine its own approach and angle to these issues in order to act.  What the artist does is clear.  Like a tradesman, like a bazaar, like a doctor, whose actions and behavior must be in accordance with the Holy Sharia, the artist has the same expectation and likes that what he does is compatible with Islamic laws and the Islamic spirit, and God forbid there is no angle.  be  This duty is the duty of jurisprudence and art.  Considering the importance of this issue, that is, that jurisprudence directs the path of our artistic actions, it became a concern for us to address the issue of jurisprudence and art.  On the other hand, in the past 6-7 years, we had the emphasis of the Supreme Leader regarding the importance of art jurisprudence, and the conferences that were held following his orders and emphasis in the field of art jurisprudence, caused us to consider this as an issue at least in Chavosh’s program.  Let’s discuss and show the importance of this topic to the audience and what is happening in the country in this area now and what steps have been taken and what is its importance?  In my opinion, it was just an initial step in order to be able to seriously address the issue of jurisprudence of art and its place in the national media or media space, and to be able to strengthen and further expand the relationship between artists and our religious and jurisprudential society.

On what basis were the guests of the program selected?

Regarding the seminary color that I myself have, and I have worked in seminary collections for many years, and I myself have a jurisprudential-semiological point of view, and I have followed the field of jurisprudence and art for many years, and I have also followed the jurisprudence and art conference, Ayatollah Alidoost  which we knew, and since I was responsible for a course in the Ijtihad website, I knew Mr. Derry, who was one of our old friends, and I was aware of the activities of additional jurisprudence and later jurisprudence of art, and this caused us to  Let’s go to these two dignitaries who, especially Ayatollah Alidoost, are among the most special figures who have done jurisprudential work in this field.  The fact is that the number of figures who work in art jurisprudence is very limited.  Maybe if we went to medical jurisprudence, there would be many more figures, but in art jurisprudence, the figures who have the necessary qualifications and work seriously are limited.

As you said, His Highness’s background is in seminary and jurisprudential debates, and you have probably had input into this subject of art jurisprudence, but in general, I would like to know His Highness’s assessment of the atmosphere that was in the program, or perhaps the feedback of the audience before and after this program.  How is art jurisprudence brought up?  Naturally, an introduction to this topic is presented here, and the introduction is only a perspective, and the entry is not detailed.  What was it like before and after that?

In my opinion, the biggest thing that helped this program was the positive feedback and the presentation of the friends’ discussion was very clear, transparent and effective, and the important point and in my opinion the biggest contribution of this program was that it was basically a misconception in the rumors and masses of people and  There are even our elites regarding jurisprudence who do not have a precise knowledge of jurisprudence and look at jurisprudence with a handed-down and imitative approach.

Or even feel like an obstacle

Yes.  That is, if they don’t have any objection, they look at the jurisprudence very little and do not have correct knowledge at all, some people may also see an obstacle as you said.  This program and clear approaches that I think both Mr. Alidoost and Mr. Dari used in the program showed a more accurate, correct and efficient image, and this is corrected in the audience’s mind.  That is, if such programs are discussed even at this level in general and they say that;  This is what jurisprudence is all about.  Searches for this.  This is how it relates to your life.  This will bring it to you.  In my opinion, this modification of attitude was the biggest contribution that happened in this program, and basically the first question we asked Mr. Alidoost when we started the program was that;  Provide a detailed view and a definition of jurisprudence itself and its function to the people and show the true self of jurisprudence.  I think this is its greatest function.

Thank you.  The last question is, in your opinion, the capacity to continue such programs regarding the jurisprudence of art is definitely there, right?

I believe that we really need an independent program in the field of art jurisprudence, given its importance.  I emphasize once again that the Supreme Leader’s recent statements about art are very clear and transparent, which he has spoken all these years, and his recent speech in the group of seminarians, and that art is the most important tool and language of religion propagation.  The position of art is clear, and jurisprudence must determine its own ratio.  In my opinion, due to the fact that fields such as the problemology of art jurisprudence, its fields, and then entering into art jurisprudence are very important, in my opinion, of course, in a specialized space, that is, it has no place in a general program, but in my opinion and  Based on my own knowledge, an independent program is needed, and an independent program can be prepared in the field of jurisprudence of art by respecting the appeal of the media.
