Note: Although stem cells were not taken very seriously at the outset, and discussions of their implications for medical science and human biology resembled science-fiction narratives more than anything else, today those very narratives are, one by one, becoming reality. The growing seriousness of the issue of stem cell use—particularly in medical science—has given rise to numerous jurisprudential and legal questions, which scholars of jurisprudence (fiqh) and law have, in recent years, endeavored to examine.
