According to the International AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA), Ayatollah Sayyid Mujtaba Nur Mufidi, professor of advanced jurisprudence (Bahth al-Kharij) in the Islamic Seminary of Qom, President of the Research Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence, and Director of the Dar al-Ma’rifah Institute, in an interview pointing to the messages of the funeral ceremony for the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated: “This ceremony is not merely a mourning ritual; rather, it is a historical event whose audiences are the Iranian nation, the nations of the region, world public opinion, and future generations.” Emphasizing that the widespread public turnout represents a renewal of allegiance to the ideals of the Revolution and the school of Ashura, he added: “Martyrdom in the logic of the Quran and Islamic teachings is not the end of the path, but the beginning of the impactful life of divine human beings and the continuation of their trajectory.”
Stating that this widespread presence is considered the nation’s appreciation for years of struggle (mujahadah) and service by the Martyred Leader to Islam and Iran, he noted: “This ceremony is also a display of national cohesion and the social capital of the Islamic Republic, sending a clear message to enemies that the strategy of eliminating personalities will never lead to eliminating a school of thought and an ideal.” According to Ayatollah Noor-Mofidi, just as the Ashura movement became eternal through the martyrdom of Sayyid al-Shuhada (a), the martyrdom of great personalities can likewise lay the groundwork for reviving ideals and strengthening the spirit of resistance.
The President of the Research Institute of Contemporary Jurisprudence, in another part of his speech, pointing to the characteristics of a ceremony capable of exemplifying the power of the Islamic Republic, specified: “Widespread and conscious turnout of the people, preserving national unity and cohesion, observing order, dignity, and Islamic ethics, and accurately explaining the personality and ideals of the Martyred Leader constitute the most crucial components of such a ceremony.” He emphasized that the true commemoration of martyrs is continuing their path in the direction of service, justice, resistance, scientific progress, and solving people’s problems, and if this ceremony leads to strengthening hope, responsibility, and empathy in society, it will transform into a strategic asset for the country.
Ayatollah Noor-Mofidi also considered the mission of religious preachers and seminary scholars in this juncture exceedingly vital, stating: “The Islamic seminaries must transform this grand gathering into an arena for the Jihad of Explanation (Jihad al-Tabyin).” He enumerated documented and rational explanation of the Martyred Leader’s personality, logical responsiveness to the questions of the young generation, linking emotions with knowledge (ma’rifah), inspiring hope based on religious teachings, and honest dialogue with audiences among the most vital duties of preachers, emphasizing that the Jihad of Explanation is clarifying truths using the language of argument and ethics, not merely repeating slogans.
Concluding his remarks, he stated: “If the funeral ceremony transforms from a purely emotional gathering into a school for deepening knowledge, strengthening national unity, promoting ethics, increasing resilience, and breathing the spirit of hope into society, the mission of the Jihad of Explanation will be properly realized.” Ayatollah Noor-Mofidi emphasized that such a ceremony, in addition to bringing tranquility to society, conveys the clear message to the region and the world that the Iranian nation, relying on faith, social capital, and divine ideals, will firmly and decisively continue the path of the Revolution.
